ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Please find attached the agenda for the forthcoming AGM at 8.15pm on Monday 13th of November

Please note that the venue is yet to be finalised - details will be circulated after the committee Meeting on November 1st. As usual the meeting will be after the Monday night runs, which will finish in time to get to the AGM

The Committee places which are up for election this year are noted on the agenda. Please email me, with the names of your proposer and seconder if you wish to stand for any of the posts. Nominations must be received 7 days before the AGM ie by Monday 6th November.

Please consider putting yourself forward. If you would like any information about any of the posts please speak to the current post holder or any committee member. As only some of the posts change over each year there will always be support from existing committee members for new recruits.

We look forward to seeing you all at the AGM

Best wishes

Alun Griffiths (secretary) on behalf of the committee.

Secretary needed!
At the end of this year I will have done two 3 year terms as club secretary and so am not eligible for reelection. This means we need someone to step up and take on this important behind the scenes role.
Secretary is one of the links with England Athletics and other bodies, so gets information from them which may need passing on to other committee members.
The main job is sending out agendas and taking minutes for committee meetings the AGM and keeping these records. In this and all other things they will be supported by the other committee members.
I will still be around for support if needed (but will be happy to keep out of the way if preferred!)
If you think you could take this on (or would like to suggest somebody who will be good but is shy) come and have a word or email me.

Thanks
Alun Griffiths (alun@gxn.co.uk)

Senior Entry Information
The PECO Cross Country League is a series of 5 cross country races organised in and around Leeds in which clubs affiliated to the League compete across men's and ladies divisions. Each race is about 4-5 miles.

The only way to enter the race series is to buy a season ticket online in advance for just £18, which provides entry to all five races. Once registered and paid for, you will not need to register again all season. The price of the season ticket will reduce to £10 after race 3 is complete, (ie to include race 4 and race 5). After race 4 the price will reduce to £7 for those entering race 5.

You will collect your season race number from you club representative, either in advance, or at the first race you attend. Then you just turn up to each race with your number and run.

All entrants will be allocated a race number (with timing chip) which they must keep for the whole season. Replacements for lost or damaged numbers can be purchased at Race HQ for £3 for seniors.

RULES FOR ENTRY:
1. The league is exclusive to the clubs that are members of the PECO XC league.
2. All competitors must be paid up members of a club which is affiliated to England Athletics at the time of the race.
3. Club members must be affiliated to England Athletics at the time of the race If you are in any doubt about whether you are currently affiliated to EA, please contact your club membership secretary and/or email bob@pecoxc.co.uk.
4. Affiliated members of non-League clubs may run as guests.
5. Unattached runners are NOT permitted to participate.

IF YOU CHOOSE TO ENTER ON THE DAY, then you will be defined as a "guest" and will not contribute to your team score or individual cumulative points total. Only advance entries will be League "counters".

Christmas Night Out-Saturday December 9th

We have pencilled in Saturday December 9th for our annual Christmas 'do' at The Hop, Saltaire. Details on pricing and menu options will be advised once established.
It was a good night last year, and we hope to see a healthy turnout!

Pie and Peas Night- Thursday 21st December

Another entertaining evening at the Junction pub Shipley following the Strava Art traditional club run. Further details will be advised shortly.
Club Championship

We had just the Abbey Dash in the club championships in October, but there were some fantastic performances on the day from 34 striders. No movement at the top of the premier division or the second division, but we have a three way tie at the top of the first division with Tim Gore, Jenny Shaw and Ian Storey all on the same points, all from 5 races.  I've had a quick look back at 131 striders have run at one or more of the club championship races so far this year which is just brilliant!
In November we have the Guy Fawkes 10 mile this weekend (which is now full) and the Post Hill Challenge on the 11th.  Only 6 of us entered for that so far - it is daft but it's a laugh!

November Race Preview

Two championship races for you to get your teeth into in November, firstly the ever popular sold out Guy Fawkes 10 starting and finishing at the impressive Ripley Castle. A challenging combination of climbs and descents on road and paths, many given names, especially the hill at around 8 miles as you leave Hampsthwaite, aptly named 'For Fawkes Sake'. Always makes me smile!

Second up is a new one on the championship schedule, the Post Hill Challenge, Troydale, Pudsey. This is a testing 5.6 km off road race around the trail paths of Post Hill and includes two climbs of the famous Post Hill motor bike hill climb. It will be muddy in parts and slippery on the hill, fell shoes recommended or aggressive trail. Still plenty of places available on this one!

Winter Fools Relay

If anyone is interested in putting together a team of Striders for the KCAC Gathering Winter Fools relay on December 9th, please comment on the recent Facebook post, or select ‘Attending’ on the Spond app. The club will happily pay the £40 fee if we manage to raise the required team of 8! Each leg is run in pairs with the following distances: 9mi, 9.5mi, 6mi and 7mi.
Club Records

The club records are now up to date on the website with as many results as we are able to ascertain.

Track Update

Our annual murder mile event against Ilkey and Baildon took place on October 18th. A total of 15 Striders took part over three heats and emerged victorious overall!
The results are posted below with some very impressive performances.

Track sessions on Wednesdays are still well attended with a different session every week expertly put together by Ali and Louise Nash. It's been great to see some newcomers recently who took part in our couch to 5k programme.

Remember you don't have to be fast to do track, it's for all abilities and really improves your running. Give it a try!
Park Run with Tim Mosedale

It's been a quiet month on parkrun stats - all there is for me to do is to congratulate three Striders for joining the red 50 club.

Martin Love ran his first parkrun in 2010 when Bradford parkrun was less than a year old.  Helen's first was the following week and she has run 314 in the time it's taken Martin to get to 50...
Darren Parker has been parkrunning for nearly 10 years too although almost all of his runs have been in the past year and a bit at Chevin Forest where he's a regular.
And finally Joanne Hardaker's parkrun history started less than 5 years ago at Myrtle Park and she ran her 50th at Lister Park, with plenty of visits to Roberts Park in between.
Well done to all three, almost a full year of Saturday morning 9am runs now under your belts!

September Strider of the Month

Richard Stone. In consecutive weekends in September he ran; Leeds Country Way (Leg 4), the really hilly Yorkshireman Marathon, and topped it off with the longest race/run of his life at the Hardmoors 60  - 64.59 miles! Superb. Enough said :-)
