October featured race

Abbey Dash 10k - Leeds, 27th Oct

The race to do if your looking for a PB.  Not scenic but fast and flat.   This years race has a new start on the Headrow and runs out and back on Kirkstall Road.  This year the route also misses out the dog leg round the retail park which has caused a few issues in the past.  The run back can be mind numbing and the viaduct seems to never get any nearer, there is also a minor sting in the tail in the last mile  with the rise over the inner ring road as you head eyeballs out to the finish outside the town hall.  T-shirt, medal and goody bag for all finishers. 

This is a mass participation race with runners starting in waves and full chip timing.  The winner is usually around 29 minutes and last finisher around 2hrs 10mins so suitable for all abilities.
PECO Cross-Country League

These are open to all club members and are around 5m trail runs.  We usually meet at Nuffield for car sharing to the venue (details via e-mail prior to each race).

Race 1 - 24th November - Temple Newsam

Race 2 - 15th December - Middleton Park

Race 3 - 19th January - West Park

Race 4 - 9th February - TBA

Race 5 - 1st March - Roundhay

Relays - 29th March - TBA

 Entries for these races will open on the Racebest website at the beginning of October. These will NOT sell out. You can either enter individual races or a Season ticket for all 5 races for £15. An end of season party is also included in the price.

Club Records

New club records in September for:

Louise Nash knocking 1 second of the F50 5k record with 22:25 at the Even Splits race
Andy Brown improving the V50 half marathon record to 81:11 at the Vale of York race
Marcin Soszka improving his own V35 marathon record to 2:32:30 at Berlin.

Claire Bond denies being in Sheffield on 14th April so the F35 half marathon record reverts back to Jen Willingham's 93:57 at Liverpool in 2015.

Club Championship

With just 5 more races to go in this years championship (well 6 really but you can't do both races on 3rd Nov. - there's a challenge to Martin Fillingham!) here are the standings after the Vale of York half marathon.  The next races are the Lister park parkrun on 5th October.

The Guy Fawkes 10 on 3rd November is now full but if you missed out you can always do the Bradford City runs which are on the same day.  The Bradford City runs this year also include a 10 mile option as well as the usual 5k/10k/Half Marathon distances.

Saturday/Sunday long runs

There is a closed facebook group Saltaire Marathon And Long Run Friends for people who are interested in doing some longer runs during the winter at a steady pace.  The runs are arranged via the group on an ad-hoc basis.  If interested please ask to join the group.

Yorkshire Vets Grand Prix 2019

The next and last race in the series is on 10th Nov. at Cleckheaton.

If you haven't done so already you need to pre-register for the series before the race day.
August Strider of the Month
Ali Nash - for his awesome effort finishing 3rd in the 82mi Dales Way Ultra. Ali clearly pushed himself to his limits to finish the race in the top 3 in what, I believe, is his longest run to date.
Tuesday Track Sessions
Our interval sessions at Keighley track are now every Tuesday and are attended by ladies and gents of all abilities and we always tailor sessions to meet the needs of everyone who comes along. It costs £2 to use the track. Sessions start with 1,600m warm-up with dynamic stretches and strides and finish with cool down.
