Upcoming Events And Diary Dates
We have a number of events on the horizon for the next few months for you to get your teeth into, some don't have dates yet, but we will advise as soon as they are finalised:
1. Thursday August 1st, Run back to Baildon from Ilkley. This annual run involves catching the train from Baildon to Ilkley, then running back! Train time suggested, Shipley 18:23, Baildon 18:28, Ilkley 18:47.
2. Monday August 5th, Leg 2 of the club run handicap race from the rowing club.
3. Saturday August 10th, championship race at Myrtle Park, Bingley.
4. We are entering a team for the Leeds Country Way relay (on 1 Sept) that is entirely about having fun and giving people a taste for this kind of event. If you've ever thought you might want to give it a go, this is your moment!
There are 6 legs, between 9.5-11.75 miles long. All are run in pairs, and I'd love to be able to match some experienced relay runners with some enthusiastic newbies.

5. Last run from the Rowing club, date TBA.
6. Thursday 12th September, annual no watch race with Baildon and Ilkley, starting from Baildon Rugby Club.
7. October TBA, Track Murder mile at Carlton Academy, Keighley.

For details on the Club Championship, how it works, and how points are scored, please visit the website via the link below.
We have updated the scoring approach for our personality championship which runs alongside the running club championship. This celebrates the people who represent the club, from volunteering to involvement in relay and cross country teams, to Strider of the Month recognition. It's not about going fast, it's all about showing up!
The championship year runs from April to March. Scoring is as follows:
Volunteering for BMWR and John Carr (10 points each)
Volunteering for parkrun takeovers, EA 10k, and Bradford city runs (7 points each)
Running for the club (or unselected reserve) in relays such as BMWR, LCWR, Road Relays (5 points each)
Running for the club in Peco races (1 point each, bonus 5 points for all races)
Running for the club in YVAA grand prix (5 points if 2+ races run)
Strider of the Month win (10 points) or nomination (5 points, max of 15)
Championship race preview
Two races on the calendar for August, firstly the Myrtle Park parkrun on Saturday 10th, it would be great to see plenty of yellow and blue representation for this 5k 4 lap race!
Secondly on Wednesday 28th is the latest in the Even Splits 5k Leeds series at the Brownlee Centre. This is a potential PB course if you're that way inclined!

June Strider of the Month
Sue Sroka. For organising the Danefield relay teams and encouraging the group 1 runners to get involved. She is a credit to Saltaire Striders even running back after her leg to support the other striders still out on the course. She ensures the club is inclusive, gives out massive amounts of encouragement, even sacrificing her own race times to help people achieve their own PB’s. Well done and congratulations!

Club Training Runs
1. Monday evenings at 19:00 . Meet at Caroline Street/Victoria Road. Four Group runs varying in distance and pace, PLEASE NOTE THAT WE WILL REVERT TO MEETING AT THE ROWING CLUB BEGINNING ON MAY 13th. Please also note that it will only be possible to use the rowing club car park if Will Kerr or Simon Frazer are present to open the entrance gate!
2. Wednesday track sessions at Keighley track are back atCarlton Keighley (formerly UAK), Green Head Rd, Keighley, BD20 6EB.
We have a track share arrangement with Ilkley Harriers, each club paying half of the booking fees. Since re-starting, these sessions have proved to be very popular, regularly attracting 20+ Striders every week. This IS NOT just for the rapid runners, all capabilities are catered for!
• Start time is 7.15pm, so arrive a few minutes before, ready for warm up and drills before the main session.
• Entry has been reduced to £2 collected on attendance - payment now by card, no cash please!
3. Thursdayevenings at 19:00, starting from Nuffield Shipley
Four group runs varying in distance and pace.
4. MONTHLY STRUCTURED TRAINING SESSION.
Our next monthly structured training session led by Richard West will take place on a Monday TBA.
Saturday/Sunday long runs
There is a closed facebook group Saltaire Marathon, Long Or Short Run Friends for people who are interested in doing some longer runs (e.g. for company for marathon training) at a steady pace. The runs are arranged via the group on an ad-hoc basis. If interested please ask to join the group.
