John Carr 5k Series

A big thank you to everyone who helped out again with the John Carr 5k series.  Thankfully we had 3 dry weeks this year and everything seemed to go well out on the course. Unfortunately, we had computer problems with the results for the third race but there sorted out now.

If you didn't get a very bright hat and would like one to keep you warm through the summer months see Diane Craven or Alan Boland.

Once the profits have been calculated we will be making donations to the nominated charities which were:

Bingley Blind Association
Epilepsy Action
Greenwood Centre
Martin House Hospice

June 3rd - 3 mile road handicap

Next Tuesday we will be holding the monthly 3 mile run which this month will be the road run and will be handicapped based on performances at the previous run in April and the John Carr series.

We have also invited unattached runners from the John Carr series to come along and take part and there will be a buffet supper afterwards provided by the club - so you are encouraged to stay behind afterwards for a drink and a bite to eat.

Bradford Millennium Way relay

This years' race is now only 2 weeks away, after that we can all have a well deserved rest from organising and marshalling.

Plans are well advanced to entertain the 36 visitors from Holland and Belgium over the weekend.  On Friday evening they will have a meal at the Generous Pioneer at Burley-in-Wharfedale at 20:00.  On Saturday there is a pasta party at the Nell Bank centre at Ilkley (where the Belgians are staying) at 20:00 and on Sunday there is a BBQ at Greens at 18:00.  All club members (and partners) are welcome to join in any or all of the events.

If you haven't already 'volunteered' and would like to help out with the race then let me know and we'll make good use of your services.

Dales run - July 4th

Graham Eastell is again organising the popular coach trip to the Tennants Arms at Kilnsey on Friday 4th July.  We will leave Shipley Market square at 17:30 (picking up on the way as necessary) and stop at Grassington.  There will then be 2 options for runs of about 3 and 6 miles (or just stay on the bus to get in some early drinking time).  After the run there is then a meal in the pub and returning to Shipley before the coach turns into a pumpkin.

If you would like to go on this trip then please speak to Graham cost is - £16.50 for 3 courses (partners are welcome).

Relay v Baildon - July 8th

We are holding the annual 4 x 1 mile relay against Baildon on Tuesday 8th July.  This is a friendly social occasion with a buffet afterwards (please bring along a plate of food for the shared table).  This is also a good opportunity for club members to get to know better our friends from the other clubs in Airedale Athletics partnership (i.e. Bradford-Airedale and Eccleshill runners).

New Design Club Vests

We now have some new design club vests - cost £14.50 speak to Graham Eastell who has some stock and can order more as necessary.
