St. Bede's A.C. E-News

Club Strategy

The committee has set up a strategy group to look at how we move forward as a club.  We would like to hear from you as to what you think we do well as a club and what we don't do so well and any suggestions you have as to how we could improve things.  Opinions and suggestions from some of the newer members would be very much welcomed.  The next committee meeting is on Monday 20th March.

Club Dinner

The club dinner held at Baildon golf club on the 26th was a great night, thanks to Carol and everyone else who helped to make it  a successful evening.  Nicola Hudson walked off with 2 prizes for first lady in the handicap and most improved lady over the year with Andy taking the most improved male award.  Donna Line won the award for the most improved lady in the summer 3 mile series.

If you haven't been on the club web site recently (www.stbedesac.org.uk) there is a link to some photos courtesy of Dave Armstrong http://uk.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/d.armstrong3@btinternet.com/album?.dir=/df24&.src=ph&.tok=phpcheEBAD6ONzji

A few results to catch up on since the last e-news.

West Yorkshire Winter League

Well having said how strong the ladies team was looking after the race at Bramley, things seem to have taken a turn for the worse.  At Stainland we only had one lady competing (Nicola Hudson).  This particularly affected the vets position where we finished 6th but would have been fourth if a lady vet had run.  Andy Hudson had a good run finishing 3rd counter in 42nd but top honours go to Pete Huby finishing 5th counter and beating Graham and Harry.

Yorkshire Vets Series 2006 - race 2 Pudsey

Again only one lady turned out, Helen finishing in 8th place in the ladies in 41:33.  A good turnout in the mens with Pete Pyrah and Jack Verity finishing in the top 20.  Andy Hudson making his debut as a vet finished second in the V35 category. Nice to see Andy Thornton back racing after more than 12 months out injured.  After 2 races the men are placed 4th in the all to count and 5th in the 4 to count categories.

11 Pete Pyrah 33:19,    16 Jack Verity 34:35,    28 Andy Hudson 36:37,    32 Andy thornton 37:05

39 Harry McGill 38:31,    45 Dave Armstrong 40:30,    49 Pete Huby 41:18,    55 Barney Lerner 41:45

66 Mick Twyman 47:00

Yorkshire Vets Fell Championship

It a wonder they made it to the start in the conditions!

22 Andy Hudson        49 Dave Armstrong

Club Championship

The next 2 races in the club championship are coming up in the next few weeks with the South Leeds 5 on Sunday 19th and the Baildon Boundary Way on Sunday 2nd April.
