December featured race

Peco Cross-Country race 2 - Middleton Parl, Leeds 15th Dec.

The parking / toilets are at the John Charles Stadium (South Leeds Stadium) just off Dewsbury Road.  Take the ring road towards the White Rose shopping centre then take the left exit at the White Rose roundabout (if coming from Bradford direction).

The course is 2 laps, a smaller first lap followed by a longer second lap.  The start and finish are on the open fields on the top of the hill (through the woods) from the stadium.  The start and finish is fast grassland then most of the course is muddy woodland with a few tricky sections.  There is a short steep hill towards the end before the long slightly downhill grassy finish. Enjoy!

Striders Calendar

Produced in A3 format and full-colour, it is a proper working calendar and not just an ornament.

We have made considerable effort to include every member that takes part in club runs where possible.

Being the first time we have only produced a limited number of calendars and offered on a first-come-first-served basis. At £5 a calendar a bargain!

To place your order please CLICK HERE

Or see Craig Elliott at a training session to pay in cash and take immediate delivery.

Proposed club trip to Sweden August 2020

A few members are going on a trip to Sweden next year if anyone would like to join us. This is to take part in the 6 Lakes race series:

Note: This is a DIY trip.

You will need to book the flights, accommodation and race entry yourself. Feel free to do your own thing -  the following are just suggestions. All the information about the race and travel is on the race organiser's web site https://www.6sjoar.se/en/home/

All distances are catered for 5k, 10k, half and full. It looks to be a friendly low key event. The races take place around 6 lakes near Uppsala  (about 40 minutes north of Stockholm.) and are a mix of road, gravel track and off-road,

Race date is 15th August so the plan is to go out on Friday 14th and return Monday 17th.

Flights are from Manchester. These are the ones most of us are choosing:

Out: SAS 09:45 Manchester 2h 20min direct 13:05 ARN Stockholm Arlanda
Back: SAS 16:20 ARN Stockholm Arlanda 2h 30min direct 17:50 MAN Manchester

The hotel of choice is Clarion Hotel Gillet in central Uppsala.

Club Records

New club records in November for:

Louise Nash knocking 6.48 off the F50 10 mile record from 1994 with 81:45 at the Guy Fawkes 10

Martin Fillingham improved his own V45 10k record at the Abbey Dash to 34:16 from 34:58 .  The race was subsequently found to be 23m short so we have decided to manually adjust the time by 5secs to 34:21.

The club records are now available on the club web site.
