August featured race(s)

Burnsall Feast Sports

Saturday 24th August choose between a testing 10 mile road race or a testing 1.5 mile category AS fell race.

This is a great day out especially if you have kids.   Music by Skipton brass band, tombola, Coconut Shy, Pillow Fight, Ducking Stool, Vintage Cars, Punch & Judy, and other sideshows, Local and Open children’s races, Children’s attractions bouncy castle and cave maze,….and lots more

The 10 miles takes you out to Grassington with a couple of challenging hills at 5 and 8 miles (but NOT a Carr Lane) and a nice downhill finish back in to the village.

The fell race takes you up to the skyline (definitely a Carr Lane and more!) and then a fast descent back to the village.

No medal, no T-shirt.  Stay to the end and watch or take part in the egg throwing competition
.
Club Trip Reims 2019
Date : Sunday 20th October
Distances : Marathon, Half Marathon, 10k

Race registration is now open.  Not sure how quickly the events sell out, so it might be worth while entering sooner rather than later.

There is a template for the required medical certificate on the Run In Reims website.  If you would like to complete and upload this as part of your registration, and want Alun (Griffiths) to sign for you, then please print it, complete it, and see Alun on a club night.  If you don’t get it done straight away don’t worry, you can always add it post registration.   Completion of the certificate is your responsibility.

For full details see the January newsletter.

If you already know that you will be joining the trip, or have any questions  then please e-mail Lindsey Pearson

Yorkshire Vets Grand Prix 2019

A big thank you to everyone who helped to make our hosted race on 23rd July a success. Especially Simon Frazer who helped out with a medical emergency on the course and to Ewan's father-in-law who came to the rescue when Ewan went AWOL with the club kit locked in his house!

The next race is on 7th July at Halifax.

If you haven't done so already you need to pre-register for the series before the race day.

June Strider of the Month

Martin Fillingham
- Only one choice for June SOTM award - words can't describe his running at Endure 24 - 100 miles in 24 hours. Not only did he bag himself a place in the 100 mile club, he completed the event with a superb sprint finish, (he'd also popped over to do Wetherby parkrun before Endure24 started!!) At no point did we see him complain and he had a smile on his face and enough energy to pack up his tent and go home afterwards!! What a guy!! Inredible achievement.
