London Marathon 2017

Did you enter the ballot for a London marathon place?  Don't forget, if you got rejected (which we hope you din't) the club gets 3 places for club members.  To be in the draw for a club place you must let a member of the committee see proof of your rejection.

The draw for the club places will take place at Nuffield on Thurs. 10th Nov.  Members who have had a club place in the last 2 years will not be eligible to enter the draw.
September Strider of the Month

Dairine Nethercott - In September Dairine set a new 1/2 marathon PB of 1:53:54 in the Vale of York 1/2 marathon beating her previous best time set in Liverpool back in 2013. New PBs are hard to achieve for runners who have run as many 1/2 marathons as Dairine has done over the last few years.

Sunday 13th November sees the 8th and final race in this year's Grand Prix series with final individual and team standings to be decided. The race starts and finishes at the running track in Cleckheaton at 11am and is about 5.5 miles of farm tracks, fields and the odd bit of tarmac.

The men are in 4th place in all 3 competitions but the ladies are outdoing us in 3rd in all tables BUT are only 2 points clear of 4th place Kirkstall in the 'First 4 to Count' and not far ahead of them in the 'All to Count' table. A good turnout a week on Sunday will put us in our best position in both women's and men's competitions for years so please come along. Entry is a mere £5 and we normally get some refreshments afterwards.

If you haven't done any of the series so far, it doesn't matter - your points still count for the team and you will get a feel for the level of competition and fun at these events and be persuaded to do them next year. Also, it's a good way to get used to some off-road running before the PECO races kick off at the end of the month!

As usual we will be car sharing, meeting at Nuffield for a 9.45 departure. Please let Martin Love know if you are meeting at o Nuffield so we don't leave without you. If you are making your own way there the track is easy to find. From Chain Bar roundabout head through Cleckheaton town centre on A638 and it is on the right just as the road becomes a dual carriageway.

If you want any more info, please ask one of your Vets Captains (Louise Nash & Martin Love) at training.
