Social Events
Social Mailing List

A new social email list has been setup to help cut down on unwanted emails about things some striders may not be interested in. In future social e-mails will only be sent to this group so if you wish to continue receiving e-mails about social events you will need to subscribe to the group

 saltaire-striders-social-group@googlegroups.com

If you have a google a/c, you can join this group just like you join any other google group.
If not, you can apply to join the group by sending an e-mail to

saltaire-striders-social-group+subscribe@googlegroups.com - send the e-mail from the e-mail a/c you wish to use to receive the social e-mails, ideally, this will be the same a/c you use on the main Saltaire Striders emailing list, but it doesn't have to be the same.
Saltaire Beer Festival Friday 9th September

The Saltaire Beer festival is taking place on Friday 09/09 at the Saltaire Brewery. For those people that haven't been before it's like their monthly beer club evenings but a bit bigger & even better.

Full details can be found  here

It really is the perfect way to prepare for the Great North Run or Vale of York 1/2 or the Yorkshireman two days later!

Some Striders have already said they will be going & it would be great if lots more Striders want to come too. If you fancy it I would recommend getting tickets soon as the event is likely to sell out.

Tickets can be obtained here
Friday 7th October Ladies Book Club

The next meeting of the ladies book club will be on Friday 7th October at Don't Tell Titus : 7.30 pm.

The vote for the next book was won by The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins. It was a number one bestseller so it will be available everywhere, including charity shops. The fun book will be 500 Mile Walkies by Mark Wallington.

We'll also be taking suggestions for our next books, since there will be another book club meeting before Christmas.

You can read both of the books, either or neither. As ever, it doesn't matter if you haven't read either because we don't spend that long on book chat. No boys allowed, wine compulsory. If you are new to the club AND YOU ARE A LADY then come and join us. No cliques at Saltaire Striders, unless you are a man who wants to go to the ladies' book club. Because you can't.
Pickles Christmas Do

We know it's a lot too early to be thinking about Christmas but the early bird catches the worm and all that,

The Christmas Do at Pickles in Baildon has been booked for Saturday 10th December so put it in your diary.

Baildon 'No Watch' race - Thursday 15th Sept.

Baildon Runners have invited us to their  'No Watch' race from Baildon Rugby club on Thursday 15th Sept.  For those that haven't done it before, there is a short or longer run option,   They tell you the routes and distances on the night and you have to predict your finishing time, the winner is not the first across the line but the person who predicts a finishing time closest to their actual time (but you can't wear a watch).

There will be food in the bar afterwards, meet at the rugby club on Jenny Lane at 6:45.
Strider of the Month

If you would like to nominate anyone for the August SOTM award please e-mail your nominations and reasons for your nomination(s) to Jeremy Wright by Sunday 04/09.
