Strider of the month

The February strider of the month was:
SHEILA PEPPER - A year ago Sheila signed up to be part of a relay team running the Yorkshire Marathon. At that time she hadn't run for about 30 years. She was persuaded to join the June Beginners group at Saltaire Striders and she attended pretty much every session, completing her first Parkrun in August. She carried on running at least twice a week and when the marathon came around she ended up doing two relay stages (about 8 miles). She also did a couple of 10k runs and fun runs and has continued to do Parkrun. In February this year, Sheila did the Lancaster 10k in a time of 63:58 minutes. For a lady in her sixties who was nervous about running, that is a tremendous achievement.

Club Championship
2016 Championship

The next races included in the 2016 club championship are Bunny Run 1 (29th) and Baildon Boundary Way on 3rd April.

After 5 races Ian Jenkins, Helen Love and Tracy Foy have all completed all 5 races.
Yorkshire Vets Grand Prix Series 2016

The start of the new season of Yorkshire Vets races is just under 4 weeks away with the first race at Honley on 24th April.

The Grand Prix is a series of 10 races spread over the year and the county in which runners accumulate points for both individual awards (based on your best 7 races) and for the club. The races are generally about 5 miles long, on a variety of terrain, and suitable for absolutely all abilities. The only restriction is that you have to have reached the grand old age of 35 in order to compete. Each race costs just £5 to enter and as well as the season-long awards there are prizes at each individual race and lots of spot prizes too.

Full details are available on the YVAA website http://www.yvaa.org/2016-races/ .

If you want any more info, please ask one of your Vets Captains (Louise Nash & Martin Love) at training. We will send round reminders closer to each race and arrange car-shares wherever possible.
