Yorkshire Vets Grand Prix
Series 2016
The new season
of Yorkshire Vets races will soon be upon us and
it would be good to get an even better turnout of
Saltaire Striders this year, when 4 of our members
carried off awards at the end of the
series.
The Grand Prix
is a series of 10 races spread over the year and
the county in which runners accumulate points for
both individual awards (based on your best 7
races) and for the club. The races are generally
about 5 miles long, on a variety of terrain, and
suitable for absolutely all abilities. The only
restriction is that you have to have reached the
grand old age of 35 in order to compete. Each race
costs just £5 to enter and as well as the
season-long awards there are prizes at each
individual race and lots of spot prizes
too.
The first race
is on Sunday,
April 24th at Honley, near
Huddersfield and is a mainly
off-road romp around Last of the Summer Wine
country. Many of the subsequent races are on
summer weekday evenings.
If you want any
more info, please ask one of your Vets Captains
(Louise Nash & Martin Love) at training. We
will send round reminders closer to each race and
arrange car-shares wherever
possible. |
